    Cameron County Farm Bureau Scholarship

    Application Available: At counselor’s office

     Deadline: Received by Farm Bureau by March 1, 2017

    Eligibility: 

    • High school senior or college student whose parents’ membership is in good standing with the Cameron County Farm Bureau

    • Applicant must be enrolled as a full time student (min. 12 hrs.)

    Zonta Club of Brownsville Mattie Hargis Scholarship

    Application available: At counselor’s office

    Amount: Up to $1000

    Deadline: Must be received by counselor’s office by 4:30 PM March 10, 2017

    Eligibility:

    Female who plans to attend a four-year college or university.

     

    Stars Scholarship Fund

    Application Available: www.StarsScholarship.org

     Deadline: March 15, 2017

    Amount: Varies

    Eligibility: 

    • Be a US citizen or permanent resident (see website for more info)

    • Have a permanent residence (5+ consecutive years) within South Texas

    • Have earned/completed at least 12 undergraduate credit hours an accredited college or university through concurrent or dual enrollment classes.

    • Have a minimum college GPA of 2.7 on a 4.0 scale

    • High school transcripts are not accepted. All hours and GPA must be reflected on a college or university transcript from the school they completed their hours.

    • FAFSA must be completed prior to applying

     

    Texas Telephone Association Foundation Scholarships

    Application Available: http://tta.org/?page_id=99

    Deadline: Postmarked by March 17, 2017

    Amount: Six $8000 scholarships

    Eligibility: 

    • Must be a High school senior graduating from a Texas high school & planning to attend a Texas college or university in Fall of 2017

    • Must have GPA of 3.0 or higher

    • Must be a US Citizen

    • Requires transcript, copy of Student Aid Report, & letter of acceptance from Texas college or university

    • Special consideration for students pursuing degree in telecommunications, math, business, education, technology, engineering, computer science, etc.


     

    Zonta Club of Brownsville Mattie Hargis Scholarship

    Application available: At counselor’s office

    Amount: Up to $1000

    Deadline: Must be received by counselor’s office by 4:30 PM March 10, 2017

    Eligibility:

    Female who plans to attend a four-year college or university.

     

     

    Sembradores Unidos Scholarship Program

    Application available: Counselor’s office

    Scholarship Amount: Two $1000 scholarships

    Deadline: Turn in all materials to Ms. Barreda by March 21, 2017

    Eligibility:

    Must have an average of 80-89 in academically rigorous courses, or are ranked in the 11th-25th percentile of the class, must be involved in extracurricular activities & must demonstrate leadership potential or volunteerism/public service.

    • :  Candidates for the Scholarship Award must submit the Application Form to the school counselor,  who, in turn, will send the following required materials to Dr. Eliseo Ruiz, chairman of the Scholarship Committee:

    • 1.     the completed application form

    • 2.     a letter of recommendation from a school counselor or faculty member

    • 3.     a brief essay written by the student describing his or her participation in extracurricular activities that demonstrate leadership potential or school/community service, and

    • 4.     a transcript of grades with class ranking listed

     

    Dolly Vinsant Memorial Foundation Award

    Application Available: At Counselor’s office

    Amount: $1000 per semester during the junior year of college.

    Deadline: Postmarked on or before March 24, 2017

    Eligibility:

    1. Declared major is in the medical field (college or vocational career), must carry a minimum of 15 hours per semester, and hold a cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.

    Vocational and/or degree programs: Monies may be awarded upon completion of the program. Amount determined by cost & length of the program.

    2. Must have SAT score of 1509, ACT score of 24.

    Women’s Service Club Scholarship

    Application available: At counselor’s office

    Amount: To be determined

    Deadline: Must be received by counselor’s office by 4:30 PM March 28, 2017

    Eligibility:

    • Applicant must be female

    • Applicant must be a senior scheduled to graduate in 2016.

    • Must have a GPA of 2.7 or higher

    • Applicant must be UIL eligible at the time the application is made, as well as when the scholarship is awarded.

    • Applicant must be planning to attend a two- or four-year accredited institution in the fall of the applicable year.

     

     

    Golden Rule Scholarship

         Application available: At counselor’s office

         Deadline: Postmarked by March 31, 2017

         Eligibility:

    1) Hard-working high school senior who is involved in the community

    2) Must have a minimal GPA of 2.0 or better

    3) Must be serious about earning a degree

                   The scholarship is intended to give back to students who have given something to their community.

               

       Golden Rule Technical Scholarship

         Application available: At counselor’s office

         Deadline: Postmarked by March 31, 2017

         Eligibility:

    1) Graduating senior with 2.0 or better GPA

    2) Must be hard-working & involved in the community

    3) Must be serious about learning a trade or earning an alternative certification

                   Objective is to help students interested in attending a trade or technical school. The scholarship is to assist students seeking to further their education outside the traditional university.

    Ninos, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start Scholarship

    Application: www.ninosinc.org or counselors’ office

    Deadline: Must be received at NINOS Inc. by March 31, 2017 at 5:00 PM

    Amount: 12 scholarships of $1200 each

    Eligibility:

    • Must be a former or current parent of NINOS, Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start program for at least one school year or

    • Must be a former student of NINOS Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start program for at least one school year

    • Must meet NINOS Inc. Scholarship income guidelines as indicated on application

    • Must submit all information requested

    • Must be a resident of the NINOS Inc. service area in Cameron or Willacy Counties

    • Can only receive two NINOS Inc. scholarship awards while enrolled in college

    • Required to provide date of birth, last four digits of social, or I-10 number (if applicable).

    • Former Head Start Students must sign up for the Head Start Alumni @ www.headstartalumni.info
