Friends of the Ethel L. Whipple Memorial Library Scholarship

Application available: At counselor’s office

Deadline: April 3, 2017 to be personally submitted to the Library Director at the Ethel L. Whipple memorial Library, HWY 100 & Nogales, Los Fresnos, TX.

Amount: Varies. Minimum of $250

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must have volunteered at the library in some capacity for a period of time during his or her high school career.
  • Applicant must be a senior, scheduled to graduate in May of the applicable year.
  • Applicant must have a 2.7 GPA or higher
  • Applicant must be UIL eligible at the time the application is submitted, as well as when the scholarship is awarded
  • Applicant must be planning on attending a two- or four-year accredited institution in the summer or fall of the applicable year
  • Resume, transcript, two letters of recommendation, & essay required.



    South Texas Career & Technical Education Association Scholarship

    Application available: Counselors’ office
    Deadline: April 6. 2017
    Amount: Five $500 scholarships
    Eligibility: Seniors who have completed at least 3 credits of CTE courses in a coherent sequence.

    Rio Grande Valley Chapter Associated General Contractors of America Inc. Scholarship
  • Application available: At counselor’s office

  • Scholarship amount: $1000

  • Deadline: Must be RECEIVED by organization by April 6, 2017

  • Eligibility:

  • 1)       Senior who will continue his or her education in a construction-related field such as construction science, architecture, construction-related engineering, etc.

  • 2)       Must have a minimal GPA of 85 or better

  • 3)       Essay, recommendation, & transcript required

Acciona San Roman Wind Farm Scholarship Fund
Application: At Go-Center
Deadline: Turn in to Ms. Barreda by April 12th
Amount: $5000 to one Los Fresnos Senior
Eligibility:

  • Senior at Los Fresnos High School

  • Plan to enroll in a 2 to 4 year program leading to a bachelor’s degree in engineering, physical or environmental sciences or business/finance major.



Society of Petroleum Engineers (Southwest Texas SPE Chapter) Scholarship

Application available: At counselor’s office

Deadline: Postmarked by April 15, 2017

Eligibility:

  • Scholarship is contingent upon being officially registered in an ABET accredited engineering program and enrolled in a curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Petroleum engineering or other field of study related to the petroleum industry.

  • Letter of recommendation and official transcript required.

Student-View Scholarship Program

Scholarship Amount: Up to $4000

Deadline: April 22, 2017

Eligibility: No essay, no minimum GPA, just fill out a survey.

Texas Energy Center – Region One Scholarship

Scholarship amount: Up to ten $1000 Scholarships

Deadline: Must be received at Region One ESC by 3PM on April 24, 2017

Eligibility:

  • Senior at LFHS with minimum 3.0 GPA
  • SAT score of 1020 out of 1600 (starting March 2016), 1510 out of 2400 (Before March 2016) or a 22 on the ACT
  • Essays, recommendation letter, official transcript



RGV Partnership Foundation Scholarship

Application Available: www.rgvpartnership.com or counselor’s office

Amount: $2000

Deadline: Received by 5PM April 28, 2017

Eligibility:

  • Must attend an Institute of higher education in the Rio Grande Valley.

  • Requires transcript and three letters of recommendation

  • Must reside in RGV

Capitol One Hispanic Scholarship Program
Amount: $5000

Brownsville Junior Service League Scholarship

Application available: At Go-Center

Deadline: Must be received by BJSL by April 30, 2017

Eligibility:

  • Must be a senior residing in city of Brownsville

  • Must have applied to at least two universities and accepted by one

  • Must have 3.25 GPA throughout high school

  • Must have 100 hours community service

  • Essay, transcript, and two recommendation letters required.
