COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The soccer athletic class is designed to develop technical skills, tactical skills and conditioning.  Students are introduced to the fundamentals of soccer, which include skills, rules, strategies, and physical fitness.  Emphasis in the program is placed on providing an opportunity for individual growth and success, as well as an opportunity to represent the schools soccer team. 

MATERIALS NEEDED FOR CLASS:  STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO DRESS-OUT EVERYDAY. 

1.   T-shirt

  1. Athletic shorts or sweat pants.
3.   Athletic shoes & socks (Boots, sandals, and/or dress shoes will not be 
      permitted)

«  The dress code listed in the Los Fresnos Student Handbook will be enforced.  

EVALUATION/GRADING POLICY:
 
  1. Dressing Out & Daily Written Work:  50% 

«     1st time no dress out:  Conference with the teacher

«     2nd time no dress out: Parent conference

«     3rd time no dress out:  Referral

 

  1. Participation/Assessments:  50%

Exception:  If you have a condition or illness that prevents you from participating in SOCCER, you must have a doctors’ note that excuses you from participation. 

 
THIS DOES NOT EXEMPT YOU FROM DRESSING OUT.
 
CLASSROOM POLICIES/RULES:
  1. Be properly dressed out.
  2. Good sportsmanship, fair play, cooperation, sharing, and participation are required at all times.
  3. All students are expected to help with setting up/taking down equipment.
  4. Do not touch or handle equipment unless directed to do so.
  5. You will be expected to handle yourself in a safe, orderly, and mature manner.
  6. No food or drink permitted in the gym or lockers.

CLASSROOM PROCEDURES: 

  1. Be on Time:  To avoid a tardy, you must be inside the locker room before the bell rings. You will have 10 minutes after the tardy bell to dress out, use the bathroom, get water, and be in your assigned area.
  2. Lock up your valuables:  Lockers will be assigned.  Do not leave out anything valuable or tell anyone your combination. 
  3. 5 minutes lecture
  4. 10-20 minutes team warm up (cardiovascular).
  5. 5-10 minutes team stretching
  6. 30-40 minutes Individual/Team drills.
  7. At the end of class, you will have 10 minutes to dress.

8.  DO NOT leave the dressing area WITHOUT teacher’s permission. 

SOCCER EXPECTATIONS: 

  • Attend and Pass all classes. 
  • Respect everyone on the team.
  • NO BAD LANGUAGE ….No Exceptions.
  • Be on time and show up prepared with appropriate soccer equipment.
  • Be on time for practice and games (the bus will not wait for anyone and you will be suspended for the game).
  • No Excuses for missed practices or games (COMMUNICATE WITH COACH) Must call and notify or it will not be an excused absence.

«  We are going to develop my philosophy – which is to be prepared, practice hard, play hard, play within the rules, good sportsmanship, play smart, play as a team, win as a team and/or lose as a team, and most importantly learn the game of soccer and HAVE FUN at the same time.
