Deborah Sandoval receives Gates Millennium Scholarship

Deborah Sandoval, the salutatorian of Los Fresnos High School, has been attending school in LFCISD  for 12 years. She attended first through fourth grades at Los Fresnos Elementary and attended  fifth grade at Villarreal Elementary. She attended Resaca Middle School where she was a member of the chess and tennis teams.

In high school, Deborah maintained her grades while participating in a number of extracurricular activities. She was in Technology Academy, a member of the chess team, a feature writer for the U.I.L. Academic team and participated in cross country and track. This year, Deborah also participates in Masterminds, Robotics, and Falcon News Nest.

In December, Deborah was accepted to Princeton University through its Early Action program. She intends to major in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and has aspirations of working with NASA. She intends to attend graduate school at MIT after graduating from Princeton with her BSE.

Recently, Deborah was awarded the Gates Millennium Scholarship. With her awarded money, she will be able to go to any college of her choice for up to ten years without worrying about unmet financial need. The Gates Scholarship also provides funds for graduate degrees if she decides to continue her education and receive a master’s degree or P.H.D.
