Rico Rodriguez serves the students at Los Fresnos High School as Assistant Principal for the 2026-2027 school year. Mr. Rodriguez has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2024. During his career in public education that began in 1993, Mr. Rodriguez has served as a Science Teacher, football coach, basketball coach, wrestling coach, and track and field coach at the middle school level and high school levels. Mr. Rodriguez has also served as a middle school assistant principal, and Middle School Principal, and assistant principal at the High School level. Mr. Rodriguez received his Masters in Education and his Superintendent Certification from the University of Texas at Brownsville.
Mr. Atkinson received his Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science degree from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and his Master of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from The University of Texas at Arlington.
As a leader, Mr. Atkinson believes in the power of relationships, service, and leaving a positive impact on others.

Vanessa Rodriguez serves the students at Los Fresnos High School as the Dean of Instruction for the 2026-2027 school year. Dr. Rodriguez has been part of the Los Fresnos CISD family since 2015. During her career in public education, Dr. Rodriguez has served as a Social Studies Teacher, Assistant Principal and most recently, Instructional Officer.
Dr. Rodriguez received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Brownsville, her Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin, and her Doctor of Education from Lamar University.
